Order and Virtue Alignment

Immortal Freedom RPG > Character Creation > Optional Character Information

Your character’s Alignment is a way to categorize their overall behaviour and define their outlook on life. It is not a rigid set of values your character must adhere to. Instead, it is a reference point for the kind of person they want to be. If they deviate from their alignment, it may be time to update it or correct their behaviour going forward.[1]

Order

Order represents the struggle between Law and Chaos.

Law implies honour, trustworthiness, obedience to authority, and reliability. It also implies close-mindedness, traditionalism, prejudice, and rigidity.

Chaos implies freedom, adaptability, and flexibility. It also implies recklessness, rejection of authority, arbitrary actions, and irresponsibility.

Your character can either be Lawful, Chaotic, or Neutral. To be Neutral, your character must straddle the line between the two extremes, never tipping too far in either direction.

Virtue

Virtue represents the struggle between Good and Evil.

Good implies altruism, respect for life, and concern for the dignity of others.

Evil implies a desire to inflict pain, suffering, and death onto others.

Your character can either be Good, Evil, or Neutral. To be Neutral, your character must straddle the line between the two extremes, never tipping too far in either direction.

Combined Alignment

Your character’s combined alignment can be expressed as a combination of both their Order and their Virtue alignment. For example, they could be Lawful Evil and show a malicious intent backed up by traditions which support the suffering of others—or, they could be Chaotic Good and rebel against established systems which they see as detrimental to the lives of others.
