Datastick
A Datastick is a data storage device that with built-in memory and an connection interface for connecting to datapads, cyberdecks, and other computerized devices. A datastick drive is removable, rewritable, and compact, usually weighing less than 30 g (1 oz).
Datasticks are used for storage, supplementary back-ups, and transferring of digital files. They are small, fast, have significant capacity, and are durable due to a lack of moving parts. Additionally, they aren’t vulnerable to electromagnetic interference and are unharmed by surface scratches. However, as with any digital storage, data loss due to prolonged lack of electrical power and the possibility of spontaneous controller failure due to poor manufacturing could make it unsuitable for long-term archiving of data. The ability to retain data is affected by the controller’s firmware, internal data redundancy, and error correction algorithms.[1]
