Energy Shield
A Shield is a piece of personal armour held in one hand, which may or may not be strapped to the wrist or forearm. Shields are used to intercept specific attacks, whether from close-ranged weaponry like swords or long ranged projectiles such as bullets. They function as means to actively block against attacks, as well as to provide passive protection by closing one or more lines of engagement during combat.
Shields vary greatly in size and shape, ranging from large panels that protect the user’s whole body to small models that are intended for hand-to-hand-combat.[1]
Energy Shields resemble physical shields, except the effective part of the shield is made up entirely of psionic magical energy, similar to the magical energy employed by psi magic users. An energy cell in the mechanical portion of the shield projects a magical energy outwards to create a small plane which repulses physical objects, nullifies magical energy and vaporizes anything which crosses a certain threshold, such as fast-moving projectiles. Energy shields require energy cells in order to function. Most energy-powered devices required technological aptitude to operate, despite their magical power sources.
