Downtime

Immortal Freedom RPG > Rules

Downtime refers to any period of time in which you are not actively controlling your character, but in which time continues to advance in the narrative. For example, your group may choose to skip over the time spent travelling or shopping for new items, instead of playing those scenes out in real time. Time between play sessions can also be considered downtime, even in cases where there’s no gap in the action from session to session.

Crafting and similar activities are alsocompleted during downtime.

Crafting

Crafting in Immortal Freedom: The Roleplaying Game is completed during downtime—most commonly in between sessions.

In addition to adding a die to your dice pool, crafting skills also grant you an item or cyberware appropriate for the crafting skills at the beginning of every session. The GM may also allow you to gain an appropriate item or cyberware during other periods of downtime, such as during travel or montages. Modifying an existing item or cyberware is considered to be crafting.

You are also able to perform the Craft action at any time, as long as it would be feasible to craft the item or cyberware within a few seconds, and you have the necessary tools and materials to craft or modify the item or cyberware. It is not possible for player characters to craft or modify legendary items or legendary cyberware, unless allowed by an ability.

Repairs

Just like crafting, the repair of items and cyberware is completed during downtime. You can also perform the Repair action at any time, as long as you have the necessary tools and materials to perform the repairs. You are able to repair items, cyberware, legendary items, and legendary cyberware.

Healing

In cases where you and your group are in relative safety and have access to the necessary medical facilities or magical healing, you may remove all Injuries from yourselves during an extended period of downtime.
