Bipedal androids are autonomous machines which resemble the species of the person who created them. Bipedal androids often have the shape and form of a person, but are still very machine-like in appearance. It is rare for an android to pass off as an organic person. Even the most advanced virtual intelligences (VIs) are noticeably synthetic, and most androids are manufactured in a way to keep their machine components visible.
