Re-rolling
Immortal Freedom RPG > Rules > Encounters > Measuring Success
If ever you are unsatisfied with the results of a roll, you can pay 1 XP to re-roll—though you must do so before XP is distributed, and before Complications, Drawbacks, or Boons are received. You perform the same action each time you re-roll. You can do this as often as you want, though it may end up costing you a lot of XP.
Re-rolling could be played out as your character attempting the task multiple times, never satisfied with the result but not waiting for any consequences. Or you could treat it as a game mechanic and not resolve it narratively until you stop re-rolling.
As is the case when it comes to failure, this system is built on the concept that people use prior experience to prevent themselves from making similar mistakes.
