Attack and Defence
Whenever you roll for Tech to use your vehicle to attack another vehicle, you are also rolling to see which vehicle system you are hitting with the attack. Once you’ve measured success, select the lowest number in your dice pool and refer to the table below to see which vehicle system you hit with the attack.
If the vehicle’s shields are active and have HP remaining, you first reduce the HP of the target vehicle’s shields—regardless of what you rolled. The difference—if there is any—is then applied to the vehicle system corresponding to the lowest number you rolled on your Tech dice. Similarly, any damage inflicted onto your vehicle is first absorbed by your vehicle’s shields before being applied to other vehicle systems. The game master (GM) will roll 1d8 to determine which vehicle system is hit, re-rolling if they get an 8. The engines are hit if they roll a 1.
Attacks by player characters and non-player entities (NPCs) are also absorbed by the vehicle’s shields if originating from outside the vehicle. If a player character or NPC is inside a vehicle, they can deal damage directly to the vehicle system to which they have access.

You may target any vehicle system if the lowest number in your Tech dice pool is 1—including the engines.
