Bat

Immortal Freedom RPG > Non-player Entities (NPCs) > Animals

Bats are the only mammals capable of true and sustained flight. Bats are incredibly agile in flight, using long, spread-out digits covered with a thin membrane or patagium. They are usually the most common order of mammals after rodents. Many bats are insectivores, and most of the rest are frugivores (fruit-eaters) or nectarivores (nectar-eaters). A few species feed on animals and are haematophagous. Most bats are nocturnal, and many roost in caves or other refuges.[1]

Animals do not generally attack unprovoked. They only engage in combat if:

  • They feel threatened,
  • They’re defending their young or territory,
  • They’re desperately hungry,
  • They’re confused, or,
  • They’re diseased or in pain.

Most animals avoid conflict, preferring survival to undue violence. Animals only fight to the death if they’re protecting something or they’re cornered. Otherwise, they flee at the first sign of hostility. Predators usually fight until they’re unstable, at which point they retreat.
