First Megor Invasion
Immortal Freedom > Timeline > Second Era
The Megor first invaded Coalition of Planets space in 378, beginning with Kiplar. The invasion ended in a stalemate in 382, when the Terran Republic managed to muster a strong enough defence to keep the Megor at bay. By that time, the Megor had successfully conquered most of the inner planets in the Huk’Va solar system, leaving only Iioze, Vocaloid, and Leonis untouched. Countless lives were lost in the conflict, though Terrans experienced the most losses, as most colonists in the Huk’Va solar system had been Terran.
378
The Megor invade Kiplar, kicking off the First Megor Invasion. Raiding parties attack settlements across the globe seemingly out of nowhere and massacre nearly all colonists. Most of the colonists are Terran, though there are a number of Aeyen, Erelen and T’av colonists as well. The Megor are ruthless, looting and pillaging what they can, and destroying everything else. Zao slaves act as tech experts and magical batteries during raids, further speaking to the frenzy of the Megor. A Megorian fleet creates a blockade in orbit around Kiplar, firing upon starships and shuttles trying to enter and leave the planet. Without an organised military, the residents of Kiplar can do little else but pray for a swift end. The only true resistance to the Megor exists in the form of raiders and space pirates who call Kiplar home. But even they are crushed under the might and desperation of the Megor.
Word of the Megor invaders is slow to get to the Terran Republic officials on Plumeth. Many question the validity of claims of an alien invasion force. Doubts are quelled when the first streams from Kiplar colonists become available on the NET, giving everyone what would be their first glance at the Megor and the Zao. The Terran Republic has little in terms of a true military, and so it scrambles to muster a military strong enough to respond to the threat.
Once word of the Megor invasion reaches them, colonists and other civilians begin evacuating from other colonies and outposts in the Huk’Va solar system. Evacuations are slow, as the refugees have nowhere to go but Plumeth, which cannot accommodate everyone. Many colonists also refuse to leave their homes, believing the Megor threat to be overblown, or that the Terran Republic and the Coalition of Planets will come protect them in time. Many others do not have the means to leave, and must instead await in fearful trepidation.
The Terran Republic, the Erelan Empire and the T’avian Collective rally what forces they can spare to the defence of Vocaloid and Leonis, which they identify as priority targets against Megor occupation. The overwhelming force assembled around the two crystal-rich worlds is enough to deter Megor raids, at the expense of Terran Republic colonies having little to no protection against Megor incursions.
379
Megor raiders attack the Gestrian Asteroid Belt, focusing on the mining facilities throughout the belt. Some facilities were abandoned following the attacks on Ulta and Esas, but not all. Havris is one of the first asteroids the Megor conquer. They use the large asteroid as a launching point for further raids in the belt. The Megor also clash with raider and space pirate clans who call Gestrian Asteroid Belt home.
The Terran Republic enlists Dragoons and colonist militias, while simultaneously improving and reorganising its military. Civilian starships and shuttles are retrofitted for military use. The Terran Republic also reaches out to its allies in the Coalition of Planets.
The Erelan Empire offers some of its soldiers as shock troops to assist in defending colonies in the Huk’Va solar system, as well as some of its more battle-hardened recondites.
The T’avian Collective, provides supplies and provisions, primarily for the surviving Huk’Va solar system colonists.
All members of the Coalition of Planets continue to prioritise the protection of Vocaloid and Leonis over Terran Republic colonies in the Huk’Va solar system.
The Megor conquer the moons in the Trannoth planetary system, including Scavor, the only terrestrial world in the Huk’Va solar system. While the colonists are prepared for the attack, and the Terran Republic attempts to defend its holdings around Trannoth, the Megor once again proves to be too overwhelming a force.
380
Colonist evacuations continue at an accelerated rate. In an attempt to mitigate the influx of refugees to Plumeth and its other holdings, the Terran Republic enlists local colonists into its military and spreads nationalistic propaganda, urging its colonists to remain where they are while they build up a sufficient military. It also severely downplays the extent of the Megor threat, once again urging colonists to stand fast or risk losing their claims.
Megor raiders invade the Taeria planetary system, beginning with Veuto, the most populated colony world in the planetary system. Their dwindling numbers from occupation and increased resistance from locals slows down raids, as does the presence of raider and space pirate clans across many of the worlds orbiting Taeria. The Megor manage to entrench themselves on many worlds, taking over mining operations and colonies alike.
A Terran Republic armada arrives in the Huk’Va system. It pushes back against Megor raiders on Taeria’s moons, where their presence is weakest. Slowly but surely, the Terran Republic succeeds in stopping the relentless Megor in their tracks. The defensive grid around Vocaloid and Leonis remains strong throughout.
382
Conflict between the Megor and the Terran Republic reaches a stalemate as neither can make any ground, putting an end to the First Megor Invasion. The Huk’Va solar system remains an active war zone, with every world under contested domain. The stalemate left the Megor deeply entrenched on worlds previously claimed by the Terran Republic. The Terran Republic, in turn, could do little more than keep the warmongering species from conquering more worlds in the Huk’Va solar system.
