Handheld Translator
A handheld translator* is a technologically advanced device which allows the user to understand someone speaking in another indexed language. The device works by recording speech and then playing back what was said in another language using a rudimentary virtual intelligence (VI). The device’s language dictionaries can be updated via the NET.
Handheld translators are not very popular, considering the prevalence of datapads with built-in translation software. Over-the-ear translators are usually more popular.
