Travel

Immortal Freedom RPG > Rules > Distance

Travel in Immortal Freedom: The Roleplaying Game is only considered so far that it helps the narrative. There are 3 ways you and your fellow players may decide manage travel:

There isn’t a right or wrong way to handle travel. As always, you should do whatever is best for the story you are trying to tell.

Space Travel

Shuttles are meant for relatively short trips between starships, space stations, planets, and moons within 1 million kilometres of each other. Shuttle travel takes a few minutes up to a couple of hours, depending on the distance between locations.

Interplanetary travel via starship within the limits of a solar system can take anywhere from a few milliseconds to a week, assuming an average distance of 12 AU between celestial bodies and depending on the max faster-than-light (FTL) speed of the starship. For example, it could take around 50 days to travel from Febeth and Greth in the Xaia solar system if going at the lowest FTL speed.

Interstellar travel via starship between solar systems can take a few hours or several centuries, assuming an average distance of 5 ly between solar systems and depending on the max FTL speed of the starship. It is generally improbable to travel to solar systems outside the star cluster using existing FTL technology.
