Performing Actions
Whenever you do something difficult, challenging, or which requires skill, you are performing an Action. Speaking to a foreign diplomat, climbing a mountain, shooting a gun, picking a lock, searching for clues—these are all actions.
Performing an action generally costs Action Points (AP), with most Actions normally costing 2 Action Points (2 AP) to perform. Every player character has a baseline of 3 AP at their disposal, though you may have more depending on your abilities. All of your baseline 3 AP is refreshed at the end of a round. Unless modified by your abilities, you will only be able to perform the Move action and one additional action per round.
You will need to roll dice to perform most actions. There are 4 different dice pools in Immortal Freedom: The Roleplaying Game:
Emotion and Logic are rolled on 6-sided dice (d6), while Magic and Tech are rolled on 8-sided dice (d8). Every actions you perform aligns with one of these dice pools.
It’s assumed that you will be rolling for Emotion/Logic (d6s) for most actions you perform. If ever you attempt to solve a problem using magic or advanced technology instead of emotion or logic, replace your entire dice pool with Magic/Tech dice (d8s).
