Terranglo
Immortal Freedom > Languages
Upon leaving Earth, humans maintained a number of languages, which they carried with them into the stars. However, thousands of years in space narrowed human language down to a single, common language, which eventually evolved into Terranglo.
Like all languages, Terranglo has its share of dialects—some from before the Terrans settled Plumeth, and others that developed as Terrans spread through the star cluster. For example, Grethians have a dialect and accent distinct from the residents of Plumeth, to the point that they can be nigh-incomprehensible to each other at times.
Terranglo is direct, concise, and easy to understand. It sounds clear and crisp, but is hard to learn if one isn’t used to the ancestral meanings of words or its particular sentence structure. It also relies heavily on idioms and cultural context to relay information.
